Dr. Laakso is a board-certified psychiatrist who has practiced psychopharmacology in New York City for more than 30 years. She was born in Finland and received her medical training in Germany, England and the United States. She was Director of International Studies at the American Health Foundation in New York, specializing in Metabolic Studies and Epidemiology. While at the Foundation, she published many scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals. Her residency was performed in the Department of Psychiatry at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where she studied with one of the pioneers in the field of psychopharmacology and medication management. Dr. Laakso is a frequent speaker at educational meetings and conferences. She speaks French, German, Finnish and Swedish.
